Visit to Game of Thrones Studio Tour from Skerries Mills

A Great Morning Away

When we were kindly invited to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour, it was hard to resist a glimpse into another mill. A totally different mill, as this venue outside Banbridge was originally a linen mill, and not of food-based heritage like Skerries Mills. The juxtaposition of these historical sites offers a unique insight into the diverse industrial past of the region.

Journey and Arrival

Hidden in the countryside, the visit can be easily accessed by parking at The Boulevard Banbridge, where the Game of Thrones Studio ticket office and shuttle bus are located. We embarked on this adventure by heading straight up the Dublin Belfast motorway, and an hour later, we parked at this facility and boarded the short shuttle ride.

Inside the Experience

Immersive Exhibits

Every aspect of the making of the series is visually documented and explained. From costumes and set design to the drawing and development of ideas, props, and prosthetics. There is a full intact set, hundreds of characters represented, and interactive fun along the way. The exhibition offers a comprehensive look into the intricate details that brought the iconic show to life.

Enthusiastic Staff

The staff on-hand showed great enthusiasm for the show, enhancing the experience with their in-depth knowledge and passion. Their insights make the visit even more engaging and memorable. This enthusiasm is contagious, making the tour much more enjoyable.

Extensive Memorabilia

The shop has every imaginable piece of memorabilia. Fans of this iconic series will feel like kids in a candy store, with countless photo opportunities and unique items on display. From swords to costumes, there’s something for every fan to admire. Being surprised by the size of the exhibition areas, we spent a little longer than expected. After exploring, we rested up in the main coffee dock and left very impressed.

Reflection and Return

Returning to Skerries, we found our much-loved watermill building looking even more rustic and showing its centuries more than before we set out, our eyes having been dazzled at GOT. It was a morning to remember and a delight to meet the guides and entire team at Game of Thrones.
